Reindeer and Cocoa – A Perfect Match!

Oh My Goodness! Were you able to grab the November 2021 My Monthly Hero Kit?!?!? I certainly hope that you were because it is amazing!

The kit includes 13 fancy dies that are interchangeable and can create all sorts of holiday characters. There’s a Santa, a reindeer, a snowman and even an elf. There has even been some imaginative creators who have created a Mrs. Claus. The possibilities are really endless!

To make this card extra special, I added a mug of cocoa made with the “Hug in a Mug” Stamp and Cut XL set. This is a part of the Noevember add-ons. Currently, this set is sold out as well. But because this set is not a limited set, fingers crossed that it will be restocked soon.

A great way to take your die cuts to the next level is to add some inking to them. the Incking creates shadows and dimension that give your cuts more life. Its like they become 3D and not so flat. For this card, I added inking to the mug and the reindeer in various different places.

Another way to add interest to your card is to add gloss or shine to your elements. I used the clear lacquer pen from Hero Arts on the marshmallows and reindeer nose so that they would stand out on the card.

To create the background, I used an old circle stencil that I had that had lots of open space for me to add ink. Look through your stash to see if you have a similar stencil that would make an interesting background. Because it’s a Christmas card, I used an array of green Distress Inks to ink over the stencil. Using the different shades of green added depth and movement as to the card as well. These colors were ink blended onto a Neenah Classic Crest Solar White panel, which is a great cardstock to use for this technique

Below are links to many of the products I used to create this card.

Until next time…Enjoy!
