Hey family! I find myself in great need of some sunshine, how about you?! There is so much going on in our world right now that can easily get us down. Add on the Winter Doldrums and this situation is ripe for a frowny face. As if they could predict what we would need, Hero Arts came out with their December 2020 My Monthly Hero kit that is going to help turn that frown upside down.
The Hero Arts December 2020 kit is all about sunshine and hope. The dies that are in the kit are ah-mazing! The kit also included 4 ink cubes of their Reactive Inks, several of which I used on these cards.
As you can tell, sunshine was on my mind when I was working on these cards. I was driving home the other night and found myself mesmerized by the setting sun. The colors that were showing were something to behold. I took a mental picture and used it as the inspiration for this first card. With hints of pink, purple and blue, with rays of sun streaking through them all, I find this scene quite relaxing and peaceful.

I used the fancy die to create a window in the card panel. I ink blended the panel with Hero Arts Reactive Ink a couple of shades of blue including Splash and Early Dawn. Using the Altenew large blending brush made quick work of the inking.
The inset panel was inked with more Reactive inks in Lemon Drop, Taffy and Thistle. The sunburst was added by heat embossing the yellow sparkle embossing powder. I stamped the birds and the sentiment, popped up the top panel and this card was complete.

I didn’t want to let the positive go to waste that was created when I used the fancy die. So I decided to make a second card. I wanted the clouds that the die created to be on this card as well so I used the die on a panel just as I did with the first card. To make the clouds stand out, I used a pale gray alcohol ink marker on them to make them stand out a little more.
On the inked up positive, I stamped and heat embossed the sun burst. The sentiment was embossed as well. This time during assembly, I popped the inset up with foam tape. With this, the second card was complete as well.
I hope these cards have added some sunshine to your day. Enjoy!
